Ride Your Horse at Chagrin Valley Stables
Indoor and Outside Riding Facilities

CV Stables offers a variety of indoor and outdoor riding rings. Rings are dragged with a tractor and harrow on a daily basis to provide optimum footing for the horses.

  • The Magna Graduate ring (230 x 240 x 170) is equipped with state-of-the art all-weather footing and automatic sprinkler systems.
  • The River Road ring (200 x 90) serves as both an outdoor riding and flexible turnout ring.
  • The indoor arena (200 x 80) is partially-heated ring and unattached from the main barn. Perfect for exercising your horse during the winter months or on a rainy day.

In addition, a five-acre unfenced grass historic Polo Field is available to horses. Located across Epping Road from the enclosed riding rings, it is open for grazing and leisurely riding. Please respect posted signs if the Gates Mills Polo Field is closed due to slippery / unsafe riding conditions.

For all riding rings, scheduled lessons are given ring priority. Give lessons ‘right of way’ consideration when exercising your horse. Based on veterinary advice, we recommend winter riding only in temperatures above 10 degrees. If the temperatures drops below this mark, hand-walking horses in the barn is a suggested alternative.

CV Stables offers a complete spectrum of riding facilities for all horses boarded at the facility. Riding facilities and training opportunities are available to non-boarded horses on a permission basis from the Barn Manager.  We DO NOT offer hourly horse rental for trail riding.

Trail Riding
The unique setting of CV Stables offers miles of picturesque riding trails for horses. Trails include a short neighborhood path perfect for “cool down” after a rigorous exercise or longer paths through wooded areas and along the Chagrin River.

Before You Ride - Basic Requirements
All riders must fill out both the Medical Information Form and Release & Waiver of Liability (see below) forms and have them signed (if rider not over 18, then a parent or legal guardian should sign) before riding at CV Stables. Updates to the two forms including contact information and health insurance should be provided annually to ensure proper communication in case of an emergency.

To provide the maximum safety for riders, we require ASTM/SEI certified helmets with a harness and shoes with a distinguishable heel. Stable regulations forbid non-professional riders from jumping without the supervision of an instructor. It is also recommended that all riders, owners and parent read the posted Code of Conduct procedures for CV Stables.
